Driven by Passion...

Buying a car is one of the biggest financial decisions you will have to make. Often people wonder whether buying a brand new car is justifiable, given that they already own a working vehicle. People will also be torn between buying a new vehicle, or buying a used car instead for less money.

Everyone who wants to buy another car will consider the possibility of owning a new vehicle, however not everyone will go the distance of buying one. Many people believe that owning an older, used car with mileage, wear and tear but an extensive history is a safer bet. However this might not always be the case. Here are some reasons to consider buying a brand new car instead of a used vehicle.

New cars are economical

The running costs of new cars can be very inexpensive when compared to older ones. If you’re considering buying a new car, note down the MPG for motorway and city driving for the latest model compared to one that is three to five years old. You’ll be surprised how much money you could save in fuel alone by choosing a new car over a used one. Of course this alone isn’t enough to justify the added expense of a brand new car, but it is one good reason.

Long Term Savings

If you have the intention of keeping a new car for the foreseeable future, then you can ave money when compared to the costs of owning an older model. Newer cars have less risk of breaking down and needing expensive repairs. And even on the off-chance that your brand new car did break down, the chances are that it wouldn’t cost you a penny as most cars are covered by anywhere from 3 to 10 years manufacturer’s warranty.

Older cars are less reliable and have a higher chance of braking down due to their age, wear and tear and the older parts and technology that they feature compared to new vehicles. If you buy an older car, you’re only likely to get a 3 to 6 month warranty and that will only protect engine and gearbox issues. If you purchase an older car via a private sale, then no warranty is given and you’re on your own once you’ve bought it.

Good for the Environment

If green living is something that is important to you, then buying new will give you the option to choose something that is better for the environment and reduces your carbon footprint. When it comes to saving the planet, your ten year old banger won’t be as useful as your brand new hybrid vehicle.

Have it your way

One of the main reasons for buying a car new is the fact that you can have it exactly the way you want it. When you order a new car you can design it in terms of colour and style as well as decide what optional extras you want on it. When you buy a secondhand car, you are simply presented with the options that the first owner of the vehicle chose.

So do you trade your old car in for a slightly younger model, or buy a brand new car completely? If you can afford a new car then with all the advantages it comes with, what do you have to lose?

Choosing your own car will mean that you have something that reflects your personality, is better for the environment, and costs far less to run.
