Associate sponsors and official water suppliers of the 2008 Tesco 99 Octane MSA British Rally Championship.
Established in 2005 ‘One’ Water, the official water of Live8 and Make Poverty History, is endorsed by a plethora of celebrities including BBC actors Claire Goose and David Tennant. All profits that Global Ethics makes from the sale of 'One' water goes directly to the Play pumps charity, which is committed to providing clean, safe running water for African villages.
Playpumps are installed in villages over boreholes. When children play on the roundabout, it transfers energy into vertical or reciprocal motion, pumping water from an underground borehole up to a storage tank which is connected to a tap.
Not only does this mean that communities have a free, clean, sustainable water supply, but children go to school rather than spending time collecting water, and women can look after their crops and families.
Water Facts:
- One billion people have no access to drinking water
- 2 million people die each year from drinking contaminated water.
- 40 billion hours a year are spent on walking to collect water
- This equates to 5 hours per person per day
- Profits from every single bottle of One Water go towards building roundabout powered PlayPumps in Africa
- Doctors advise that we should drink at least 1.5 litres of water a day
- The UK bottled water industry is worth over £1.5bn. If consumers switched from their normal brand of water, to One, the impact of water provision in Africa would be dramatic. Just 1% of Londoners buying one bottle of One water a day would fund a Playpump for a community each and every single day of the year.
