RALLYING HISTORY/BIOG: When Garry turned 16 he desperately wanted to get involved in Stage Rallying, co-driving briefly and then preparing for stage rallying, with tuition from Mark Higgins and John Goff.
One week after his 17th Birthday and one day after passing his driving test he competed in the McRae Stages in the same rally as the likes of Jimmy& Alistair McRae, Bjorn Waldegard and Stig Blomqvist.
2009 brought a learning year in the Ecosse 205 Challenge with two wins and three third places, Garry managing a credible third overall in the championship at the age of just 17.
In 2010 he competed in the Scottish Rally Championship, winning Class 3 & becoming runner-up in the Junior Championship in a underpowered Peugeot 205, along with being selected as a Prize Drive Finalist and winning the Revolution Prize Drive thanks to six class wins.
After the Revolution Prize Drive, where he finished fourth overall on the Sunseeker National Rally in his first experience in four wheel drive car, he went on to compete in the BRC Challenge.
The Challenge is known as a stepping stone for the British Rally Championship, and Garry had an emphatic year in a Super 1000 Nissan Micra with the aim for the year to learn the events and compete for the Stars of the Future Award. However he went on to finish an outstanding fifth place overall in the smallest car in the field, along with winning Class RC1 & the Star of the Future Award.
In 2012 he will contest the brand new Twingo Renaultsport R1 Trophy within the BRC, hoping to win the BRC Junior title as well as a Twingo Trophy prize drive.
